We hope you are all staying home and staying safe to the best of your abilities. Our hearts and thanks go out to all the other essential business owners and employees keeping everything running. We have a special place in our hearts for those of you holding down the fort at home with your little ones.

We like to keep an eye out for holistic resources to complement healthy households. We recently came across this great tip sheet from Cleveland Clinic. (download here) They have some great recipes, including one for homemade hand sanitizer. We especially like this recipe:

Thyme Cough Syrup*

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1 Cup honey (preferably raw & local) or cup maple syrup (for infant less than 1 yo)

What to do:

Pour near-boiling water over thyme and seep, covered for 15 minutes. Strain. Add honey and lemon juice. Refrigerate for up to 1 week.

Dose:

Children 12 months and older: 1-2 tsp every 2-3 hours as needed

Teens/adults: 1-2 tbsp every 2-3 hours as needed.

If you try this, let us know! Also, let us know if you would like to see more natural remedies you can try at home. Remember, the best remedy for our current situation is thorough hand-washing and practicing safe social-distancing. Here is a great video with a song we can sing with our kids while washing hands: https://youtu.be/kHPQrYthn6M

We are here to help! If you need an appointment, we now have virtual appointments you can do from home and virtual appointments you can do from our parking lot. Click here to read more about those.
