ADD / ADHD Q & A
What is the Difference Between ADD and ADHD?
Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder are very similar, but with one main exception: While patients with ADD are generally unable to remain focused on one particular thing for long periods of time, an individual with attention deficit plus hyperactivity disorder often has trouble remaining in control of their actions. While they find it difficult to control their mind, they also find it increasingly problematic to refrain from quick outbursts of movement or constantly moving or adjusting some portion of the body. Both conditions can range from mild to severe and may be able to be treated with a variety of holistic and conventional treatment methods.
How is ADD/ADHD Treated?
Medication is often the most common form of treatment of ADD and ADHD. Many of the symptoms are easily controlled and individuals are allowed to live an extremely productive life. From a holistic point of view, there are several treatment options that can help. Exercise and certain types of physical activity are encouraged to help eliminate excess amounts of energy and reduce hyperactive outbursts. Dr. Chheda can help you navigate the waters and find the best solution for your child.
